REQUEST: <br /> The Department of Labor and Industrial Relations has allocated Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act <br /> (WIOA) funds to the County of Hawaii for the Adult and Dislocated Workers Program that will provide <br /> services to train individuals to increase employment, retention, earnings, skills and literacy. <br /> The County of Hawaii wishes to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawaii, University of Hawaii, <br /> Hawaii Community College (HCC) to operate the Adult and Dislocated Workers Program. <br /> Requesting a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the State of <br /> Hawaii, University of Hawaii, Hawaii Community College to administer the Adult and Dislocated Workers <br /> Program. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> This agreement with HCC has been budgeted for$473,000.00 for the next FY and failure to enter into this <br /> agreement may cause the County to lose Federal WIOA funding and may also jeopardize future federal <br /> funds. <br /> County needs to execute this agreement to start program and expenditure of funds as soon as possible. <br /> Request that this Resolution waive the Finance Committee to be heard at County Council due to the time <br /> sensitivity of this agreement. <br /> ir <br /> SIGNED: <br /> DATE: October 11, 2018. <br /> -._ m-nt Head <br />
