COUNTY OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. STATE OF HAWAII A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION'S WELLNESS FAIR, "START THE NEW YEAR RIGHT," FOR THE SENIORS OF HAMAKUA. WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, has identified the need for funds to provide a wellness fair for members of the Hamakua senior clubs and nutrition clubs, as well as for elderly housing residents; and WHEREAS, providing the elderly community with wellness resources improves their quality of life by addressing age-specific health issues, which has proven helpful in preventing dementia and other chronic diseases; and WHEREAS, the wellness fair, "Start the New Year Right," will bring Hamakua seniors together to engage in health and wellness education and activities, as well as provide tips on how to age in place successfully; and WHEREAS, the senior wellness fair will also include blood pressure screenings from Hui Malama Ola Na `Oiwi and a "Brush and Floss" workshop from Hawaii Dental Service; and WHEREAS, the senior wellness fair, "Start the New Year Right," will be held in Hilo at Aunty Sally Kaleohano's Luau Hale on January 31, 2019, at 10:00 a.m.; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, is requesting funding assistance for lunches, supplies, prizes, and miscellaneous materials associated with the senior wellness fair; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, to host a wellness fair, "Start the New Year Right," for the seniors of Hamakua. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
