OJ�tY CP N,�1 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAIII STATE OF HAWAII <br />,tE OFM' <br />RESOLUTION NO. 746 IS <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ARTS &z <br />SCIENCE CENTER TO ASSIST WITH TWO COMMUNITY PROGRAMS AT THE <br />GINNY ASTE SKATE PARK TO TAKE PLACE BY JUNE 30, 2019. <br />WHEREAS, the Arts & Science Center (ASC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br />was established in 2003 in Pahoa; that supports community development, greater access to <br />education, and improving the quality of life through learning with aloha; and <br />WHEREAS, the ASC is collaborating with the Friends of Pahoa Skate Park group, local <br />businesses, families, and schools within the area to host community programs at the Ginny Aste <br />Skate Park in Pahoa; and <br />WHEREAS, the focus on these programs is to encourage youth participation in fun and <br />organized sports activities and competitions, that will be free and open to the public; and <br />WHEREAS, the ASC is requesting funds to offset the cost of advertising, equipment <br />rentals, refreshments, and prizes for two community programs at the facility, to take place by <br />June 30, 2019; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports community programs and <br />groups that work to improve and maintain recreational facilities and enhance its programs; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Arts & Science Center to assist with funding for <br />two community programs at the Ginny Aste Skate Park. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
