COUN'T'Y OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />2,4 19 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND <br />RECREATION WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 2019 WAIMEA CHERRY <br />BLOSSOM HERITAGE FESTIVAL. <br />WHEREAS, hanami (means "flower viewing"), also known as the cherry blossom <br />festival, is a Japanese tradition over a thousand years old that celebrates the season's first <br />blooms; and <br />WHEREAS, the annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival is a trademark <br />festival for the community of Waimea, with multi -cultural performing arts, hands-on bonsai and <br />origami demonstrations, and various food and craft booths throughout the day; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Culture and Education Division, <br />continues to host the largely attended, annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival and <br />will incur expenses in the production of this year's souvenir booklet that will be distributed <br />throughout the festival on February 2, 2019; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting funds for expenses <br />associated with the production of this year's souvenir booklet; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation for expenses associated with the production of the 2019 Waimea Cherry <br />Blossom Heritage Festival souvenir booklet. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
