JNtYfOF M�� <br />' � 40 • `y � \�JJy� <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII •' <br />C <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 25 1 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KA HALE O NA KEIKI <br />PRESCHOOL FOR EDUCATIONAL SUPPLIES, CLASSROOM NEEDS, AND <br />PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT. <br />WHEREAS, Ka Hale O Na Keiki Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit preschool organization <br />whose mission is to help children develop a lifelong love of learning through a program that <br />encourages freedom, individualism, and creativity; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ka Hale O Na Keiki Preschool program focuses on cognitive skills, <br />assists in developing physical coordination, builds social skills, supports healthy concepts, and <br />allows kids to participate in the decision making process, all in an atmosphere of trust and care; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, children who attend preschool enter kindergarten ready to learn, and thus <br />achieve better test scores in reading and math, therefore, providing a thriving environment for <br />intellectual and social discipline; and <br />WHEREAS, Ka Hale O Na Keiki Inc. is requesting funding assistance for its preschool <br />program for educational supplies, classroom needs, and playground/activity equipment; and <br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports programs and activities that <br />promote healthy social behavior and positive youth intervention; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139 (a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br />Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Ka Hale 0 Na Keiki Inc. to assist with expenses <br />related to its preschool program. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
