COUNTY OF HAWAII ,-� / • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •i art pFNF'�` <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 33 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GOING HOME <br /> HAWAII TO ASSIST WITH ITS WEST HAWAII PU`UHONUA WELLNESS CENTER <br /> PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose main <br /> goal is to lower the recidivism rate for our State through efforts on Hawai`i Island to reintegrate <br /> former offenders into the community and workplace; and <br /> WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i's West Hawai`i Pu'uhonua Wellness Center program <br /> is designed to reduce the numbers of chronically mentally ill persons incarcerated at the Hawai`i <br /> Community Correctional Center including those with co-occurring substance use disorders; and <br /> WHEREAS,the West Hawai`i Pu'uhonua Wellness Center program provides housing <br /> for inmates released from incarceration, assists with securing employment, and offers a place of <br /> healing and support to help ex-offenders reenter the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i is requesting funding assistance to support the West <br /> Hawai`i Pu'uhonua Wellness Center program with expenses such as clothing,housing, and <br /> transportation; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to encourage <br /> and promote crime prevention and early intervention initiatives to improve quality of life on <br /> Hawai`i Island and to identify,promote, and implement new and innovative approaches to <br /> solving crime problems; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Going Home Hawai`i for its West Hawai`i Pu'uhonua <br /> Wellness Center. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
