COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE BIG ISLAND JUNIOR LIFEGUARD <br />PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department, Ocean Safety Bureau, is tasked with the <br />development and delivery of ocean safety operations and public safety education programs that <br />are designed to maintain safety services, promote preventative actions, and facilitate basic <br />emergency life support functions; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department and Hawaii Lifeguard Association are <br />cosponsors of the Big Island Junior Lifeguard Program, which is an island wide effort to promote <br />ocean safety through education and activities; and <br />WHEREAS, this program provides youth between the ages 12 and 17 training on water <br />safety, first aid, CPR, and surf rescue techniques with an emphasis on beach and ocean <br />awareness; and <br />WHEREAS, the trainings will be held from June to July 2019, with five-day sessions in <br />Hilo, Punalu`u, Kona, and Hapuna; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department is requesting funds to assist with costs related <br />to the Big Island Junior Lifeguard Program; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire <br />Department to assist with expenses related to the Big Island Junior Lifeguard Program. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
