• <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII :•� '- / • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • <br /> '1TE Oi•Nk - <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 74 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA 0 PUNA <br /> FOR THE PAHOA ROUNDABOUT LANDSCAPING. <br /> WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that focuses on the <br /> environment by planting trees, shrubs, and groundcovers to enhance natural landscape; and <br /> WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna has entered into a contract with the State of Hawai`i <br /> Department of Transportation to perform landscaping services at the Pahoa Roundabout entrance <br /> to Pahoa and Puna Makai,which is the first impression and point of introduction most tourists <br /> have when visiting Pahoa and nearby points of interest; and <br /> WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna believes that a well-landscaped entry to Pahoa Village and <br /> Puna Makai will increase civic pride, reduce crime, increase tourist interest and spending, and a <br /> general aid in the revitalization of Pahoa; and <br /> WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna is requesting funds to purchase mulch, miscellaneous <br /> plants, herbicide, safety vests, and liability insurance for the Pahoa Roundabout Landscaping; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of Research and Development is to increase the economic <br /> contribution of the visitor industry to Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Malama 0 Puna for the Pahoa Roundabout <br /> Landscaping. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
