Kierkiewicz, Council Member ( ` <br /> SUBJECT: Formation of an Ad Hoc Committee Relating to the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Budget <br /> Pursuant to Rules of Procedure and Organization for the Hawai`i County Council,Rule No. 7—Ad Hoc <br /> Committees,I am requesting the creation of an Ad Hoc Committee to discuss issues relating to the <br /> proposed Operating Budget and the proposed Capital Budget and Six-Year Capital Improvements <br /> Program for Fiscal Year 2019-2020. <br /> Given the natural disasters our County experienced in 2018 (volcanic eruption and hurricane), and recent <br /> discussions and measures before the Council related to tax increases, it is prudent that the proposed <br /> budget and priorities be fully investigated, and ways to increase efficiencies and save money be <br /> identified.The goal is to of this body is to report findings and propose recommendations to the Council so <br /> fiscally responsible decisions can be made with regards to the proposed budget. <br /> I am requesting 30 minutes to discuss this request, identify scope of the investigatory work, and to select <br /> members of the Ad Hoc Committee. <br /> Please place this matter on the Finance Committee agenda for March 12,2019. <br /> AK/ck <br /> Att. <br /> Serving the Interests of the People of Our Island Comm.
