House Bill No. 1180, House Draft 1 proposes the transfer of <br /> $60,000,000 to the County of Hawaii to provide relief, recovery, mitigation, and remediation <br /> assistance for disaster damage, losses, and suffering caused by the volcanic eruption. $20,000,000 <br /> of these funds are as a subsidy to the County and $40,000,000 are in the form of a loan. <br /> Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement to accept the subsidy portion of these funds. <br /> Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this <br /> $20,000,000 subsidy. Weare requesting that this resolution and bill be waived from the Finance <br /> Committee to be placed on the March 13, 2019 Council agenda in order to ensure that these <br /> monies are available to be spent as quickly as possible.
