STATE OF HAWAII BILL NO. 40 AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING TMK (3) 6-8-041:008 AS THE "KAMAKOA NUI PARK" PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 15, ARTICLE 8, SECTION 15-67 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2016 EDITION, AS AMENDED); AMENDING SECTION 15-68.1 TO ADD THE "KAMAKOA NUI PARK" TO THE PARKS AND RECREATIONAL FACILITY SCHEDULE; AND AMENDING CHAPTER 14, ARTICLE 1, SECTION 14-1 RELATING TO PROHIBITING THE POSSESSION OR CONSUMPTION OF INTOXICATING LIQUORS AT ALL TIMES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to name a park located in the Waikoloa area of South Kohala, specifically identified as TMK (3) 6-8-041:008, and with a physical address of 68-1839 Kamakoa Drive, Waikoloa, Hawaii. This area would be named "Kamakoa Nui Park" pursuant to Chapter 15, article 8, of the Hawai` i County Code, which establishes guidelines for the naming of such. Section 15-67(a)(2)(A) provides that any open area shall be named for its neighborhood, community, region, district or other identifying geographical location. Being that the park is located on Kamakoa Drive and has been affiliated with the Kamakoa Nui Housing project nearby, it is fitting to legally name said park "Kamakoa Nui Park". This ordinance also concurrently adds the newly -named Kamakoa Nui Park to Section 14-1 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), to prohibit the possession or consumption of alcohol at all times. SECTION 2. Chapter 15, article 8, section 15-68.1, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), relating to the parks and recreational facility schedule, is amended by adding a new park listing to the North/South Kohala section, to be appropriately inserted and read as follows: "Kamakoa Nui Park"
