.�JN�yoF COUNTY OF HAWAII 4A( 'k' /_.4 STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 96 19 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NA MAKA HALOA 0 WAIPI`O FOR ITS KUKULU KUMUHANA 0 PUNA PROGRAM. WHEREAS,Na Maka Haloa o Waipi`o is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that runs Kukulu Kumuhana o Puna, a program that educates youth, families, and communities on the cultural heritage of the kupuna(elders) of Puna through workshops, meetings, and ho`ike (exhibits); and WHEREAS,the Kukulu Kumuhana o Puna program consists of workshops that are held twice a week teaching hula, chanting, Hawaiian language, storytelling, lei making, and how to create traditional clothing in hopes of increasing cultural knowledge and skills in Hawaiian traditions and heritage; and WHEREAS,Na Maka Haloa o Waipi`o is requesting funds to cover facility rental fees, materials, supplies, and food for the students who attend the workshops; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports public programs that promote drug-free and alcohol-free community events; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Na Maka Haloa o Waipi`o to cover expenses for its Kukulu Kumuhana o Puna program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
