COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />7TE OF.HF,i� <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />107 19 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAII <br />FOR ITS 2019 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION IN WEST HAWAII. <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that positively <br />influences the children in our communities to make healthy life choices; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii offers a 10 -week educational program for Hawaii Island <br />students in fifth through eighth grades and is coordinating its annual D.A.R.E Day celebration in <br />West Hawaii to recognize the graduating students who complete the D.A.R.E. program; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii has requested funds to assist with expenses for t -shirts, <br />lunch, and rental of an inflatable obstacle course, inflatable water slide, dunk tank, and climbing <br />wall for students participating in the 2019 D.A.R.E. Day celebration in West Hawaii, which is <br />scheduled for May 24, 2019; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth <br />programs, such as D.A.R.E. Hawaii, that promote alcohol- and drug-free events that teach our <br />youth how to make safe and responsible choices; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for its 2019 D.A.R.E. Day celebration in <br />West Hawaii. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
