'•6.'art o6 Ht' • <br /> �•c;- \.�Jiy ice••. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII . ,��." /'•- STATE OF FIAWAI`I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 108 -19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HILO-HAMAKUA <br /> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION FOR TIIE 2019 HONOKA`A <br /> WESTERN WEEK FESTIVAL. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hilo-Hamakua Community Development Corporation is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization that seeks to build a healthy community through economic growth and <br /> stability along the Hilo-Hamakua Coast; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hilo-Hamakua Community Development Corporation, Honoka`a <br /> Business Association, and Department of Parks and Recreation are working together to <br /> coordinate the 2019 Honoka`a Western Week festival; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2019 Honoka`a Western Week festival is a celebration of Paniolo <br /> culture that fosters a true sense of community, tradition, and pride, which will be held from <br /> May 18 to May 27, 2019; and <br /> WHEREAS, events and'activities during the week-long festival include a parade, arts <br /> and crafts, block party, food booths, talent competition,performances, rodeo, historical photo <br /> displays, and Paniolo music; and <br /> WHEREAS, this annual event has been attended by thousands of Hawai`i Island <br /> residents and visitors and has increased economic tourism for Hawai`i. Island by promoting <br /> Honoka`a town as a tourist destination; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2019 Honoka`a Western Week festival will educate and bring <br /> awareness of the rich and diverse cultural resources of Hawai`i Island, making positive <br /> contributions to the quality of life for its residents and visitors; and <br />
