JNtY of H1, <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII - STATE OF HAWAII <br />gTE•GF•N' <br />RESOLUTION NO. 149 19 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAMAKUA <br />YOUTH FOUNDATION, INC., FOR THE HONOKA`A HIGH SCHOOL 130 YEARS <br />CELEBRATION. <br />WHEREAS, the Hamakua Youth Foundation, Inc., (HYF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />grassroots organization dedicated to creating nurturing, stimulating and enjoyable youth - <br />centered, afterschool, occasional weekend, and summer programs for youth of the Hamakua <br />District; and <br />WHEREAS, HYF is collaborating with Honoka`a High School to organize a 3 -day <br />celebration, which will be held July 19-21, 2019, in Honoka`a town; and <br />WHEREAS, this celebration is open to Honoka`a High School Alumnus, as well as the <br />public, and will pay tribute to the institution that has served as a foundation of the community for <br />over 129 years; and <br />WHEREAS, the weekend activities will include a "Dragons Block Party", a parade <br />through Mamane Street, a music festival, a luau and hula program, and a fireworks show at the <br />Honoka`a High School football field on closing night; and <br />WHEREAS, HYF is requesting funds to help with the sound system and stage for the <br />music festival on July 20, 2019 that is open and free to the public; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports events that provide the <br />public with safe and enjoyable activities that encourage community camaraderie; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hamakua Youth Foundation, Inc., for expenses <br />associated with the Honoka`a High School 130 Years Celebration. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
