The grant funds will be used to provide assistance to coffee growers to purchase <br /> pesticides containing Beauveria bassiana, a naturally occurring fungus to combat the coffee berry <br /> borer. <br /> Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the HDOA for <br /> these funds. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by <br /> appropriating this $60,000 to the Department of Research and Development's Coffee Berry Borer <br /> Pesticide Subsidy program account. <br /> The Department of Research and Development is requesting that this bill be waived from Finance <br /> Committee and be placed on the April 10, 2019 Council agenda, and to waive the Council's five- <br /> day hold for reconsideration in order to expedite the receipt of these funds.
