REQUEST: <br /> A resolution authorizing the submittal of a financial assistance application to the Bureau of Reclamation for <br /> the Planning, Design, and Construction of the expansion of the Kealakehe Recycled Water Treatment and <br /> Distribution System; authorizing the Department of Environmental Management Director to execute all <br /> necessary application documents; and authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement to accept grant <br /> funds. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> J <br /> The Department is pursuing federal grant funds from the Bureau of Reclamation for the planning, design, <br /> and construction of the expansion of the Kealakehe Recycled Water Treatment and Distribution System, also <br /> known as the Kealakehe Wastewater Treatment Plant R-1 Upgrade project. <br /> The initial application will request funding for the planning and design phases of work. A subsequent <br /> application will be submitted to request additional funding for construction once the eligibility requirements for <br /> that phase of work are met through the planning and design phase: <br /> The grant program may award a grant up to 25% of the total costs and requires a recipient cost share of <br /> 75% or more. <br /> The application deadline for the grant is April 22, 2019. An official resolution is required to be submitted as <br /> part of the application process and must be received no later than 30 days from application deadline.
