COUNTY OF HAWAII -'6k" %_• STATE OF HAWAII <br /> . 7rE OF•NF,'' <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 150 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAII <br /> FOR THE 2019 DARE DAY CELEBRATION.EVENT IN EAST HAWAII. <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. HAWAII is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established 31 <br /> years ago to teach our youth to make safe and responsible decisions,to resist alcohol, drugs, <br /> tobacco, and violence,to avoid risky situations, and to lead a safe and healthy life; and <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. HAWAII is conducting an East Hawai`i DARE Day, to <br /> commemorate the graduation of students from various schools in East Hawai`i, who complete <br /> the DARE 10-week Educational Program; and <br /> WHEREAS, students from Hilo Intermediate School will have completed the DARE 10- <br /> week Educational Program, earning the opportunity to participate in the 2019 DARE Day <br /> Celebration on May 21, 2018,to be held at Pahoa Community Center; and <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. HAWAII has requested funds to pay for transportation services <br /> for students of Hilo Intermediate School who will be attending this celebration to recognize their <br /> achievement; and <br /> WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. HAWAII has also requested funds for food and refreshments for <br /> the students attending the East Hawai`i event; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the Hawai`i Police Department's goals is to support youth programs, <br /> such as D.A.R.E. Hawaii, that promote alcohol- and drug-free events that teach our youth how to <br /> make safe and responsible choices; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the.Hawai`i Police <br /> Department to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. HAWAII for transportation services for Hilo <br /> Intermediate School students, food, and refreshments for its 2019 DARE Day Celebration event. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
