<P°a��oc.,1dy;�.; <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII :- av''t•-•��/ • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 158 19 <br /> • <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NA LEO '0 HAWAII <br /> TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE PRODUCTION OF A <br /> DOCUMENTARY REGARDING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII'S SISTER-CITY <br /> RELATIONSHIP WITH IKAHO/SHIBUKAWA, JAPAN. <br /> WHEREAS,Na Leo '0 Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is <br /> to facilitate diverse community education and awareness, and government dialogue and <br /> expression by providing television access through Na Leo TV, for the people of Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS,Na Leo TV will be creating a documentary on the importance of the Merrie <br /> Monarch Festival and its cultural relationship with the Gunma Prefecture in Japan; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 1996,the exploration of a sister-city relationship with Ikaho City helped <br /> facilitate the process of the Merrie Monarch Festival connection between the municipalities; and <br /> WHEREAS,the documentary will highlight the sister-city relationship with Ikaho City, <br /> (now known as Ikaho/Shibukawa), memorialize the original agreement and will identify and <br /> include past and present officials; and <br /> WHEREAS,the documentary will be preserved and archived at Na Leo TV and will be <br /> available for use by the County of Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS,Na Leo '0 Hawai`i is requesting funds for the expenses related to <br /> production costs, including, but not limited to, supplies, printing, equipment and materials, and <br /> other necessary items needed for the production of this documentary; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports programs and <br /> activities that enhance the quality of life of the people of Hawaii Island through film and other <br /> sustainable activities; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Na Leo '0 Hawai`i to assist with expenses <br /> related to the production of a documentary highlighting and memorializing the sister-city <br /> relationship between the County of Hawai`i and Ikaho/Shibukawa, Japan. <br />
