COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />ATE OFN►'� <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />IG4 19 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KE KAI ALA <br />FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH THE WAI`AHA ROOTS BODYBOARDING SURF <br />CONTEST. <br />WHEREAS, the Ke Kai Ala Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br />mission is to contribute to the wellbeing of Hawai`i's youth, environmental conservation, and <br />cultural traditions through sustainable community gatherings on the Island of Hawaii; and <br />WHEREAS, Ke Kai Ala Foundation is coordinating the Wai`aha Roots Bodyboarding <br />Surf Contest, which will be held at Wai`aha Beach Park on June 8, 2019; and <br />WHEREAS, participants of this event will beautify and malama the Wai`aha Beach Park <br />by removing litter and weeding the park; and <br />WHEREAS, Ke Kai Ala Foundation is requesting funds to assist with expenses for <br />fliers, trophies, food service ware, and t -shirts; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Parks and Recreation Department is to provide <br />services and opportunities that meet the needs of the Big Island community while maintaining <br />cultural uniqueness of our rich heritage, diversity, and the aloha spirit while partnering with and <br />pursuing help from persons and groups to improve and maintain recreational facilities and <br />enhance programs; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Ke Kai Ala Foundation to assist with the Wai`aha <br />Roots Bodyboarding Surf Contest. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
