STATE OF HAWAII 171. 19 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII COUNTY ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL FOR ITS SENIOR FARMERS MARKT NUTRITION PROGRAM. WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council (HCEOC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to reduce, mitigate, and alleviate poverty in the County of Hawaii and enable low-income individuals to become self-sufficient; and WHEREAS, the Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) provides low- income seniors with eligible fresh produce with the goal of improving their health and nutritional status and each SFMNP participant receives a book of coupons to exchange for fresh, nutritious, and unprocessed locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey from an authorized farmer, farmer's market, or roadside stand; and WHEREAS, the HCEOC is requesting funds to assist the SFMNP program with outreach, intake services, and application processing; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of Aging is to collaborate with partnering agencies to provide programs that optimize the health, safety, and independence of Hawai`i's older adults; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to provide a grant to the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council for its Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
