COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />172 1 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAII <br />FOR THE 2019 DARE DAY CELEBRATION EVENT IN WEST HAWAII. <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. HAWAII is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established 31 <br />years ago to teach our youth to make safe and responsible decisions, to resist alcohol, drugs, <br />tobacco, and violence, to avoid risky situations, and to lead a safe and healthy life; and . <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. HAWAII is conducting a West Hawa'i'i DARE Day, to <br />commemorate the graduation of students from various schools in West Hawaii, who complete <br />the DARE 10 -week Drug Abuse Resistance Educational curriculum; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. HAWAII has requested funds to pay for student activities and <br />prizes for those who will be attending this celebration to recognize their achievement; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Hawaii Police Department is to support youth <br />programs, such as D.A.R.E. HAWAII, that promote alcohol- and drug-free events that teach our <br />youth to make safe and responsible choices; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Police <br />Department to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. HAWAII for student activities and prizes for its <br />2019 DARE Day Celebration event in West Hawaii. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
