East Hawaii Cacao Variety Trial Proposal <br /> PI Eli Isele and Co-PI Dr. Alyssa Cho <br /> Budget Justification <br /> Funding will be used to establish the orchard, for initial data collection and for project <br /> outreach. Specific anticipated budget needs include (total $9,900): <br /> 1. Planting material ($2000): including, but not limited to the purchase of cacao rootstock, <br /> scion materials, and weed mat. <br /> 2. Materials and supplies ($2000) including, but not limited to, for data taking, field <br /> preparation (small tools, buckets, wheelbarrow, etc.) and maintenance (fertilizer, insect, <br /> disease, weed management, etc.), and outreach events (handouts, printing, ink,paper, <br /> tables, signs, flagging tape). <br /> 3. Student help: ($5000) to assist with establishment,plot maintenance, data collection and <br /> coordinating Master Gardener volunteers. <br /> 4.
