REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PLANNING <br /> DATE: May 7, 2019 Re: Comm.No. 261 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 9:03 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 261, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 261,transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim on April 18, 2019, submitted for the <br /> Council's review and requesting a favorable confirmation of his nominee, Zendo Kern of Council <br /> District 5 and a lifelong resident of Hawai`i Island,to the Water Board. It noted that Mr. Kern was a <br /> local planning consultant with previous experience as president of a contracting business. In addition, <br /> Mr. Kern also served as a Hawai`i County Council Member, Windward Planning Commissioner, and <br /> Downtown Steering Committee Member. <br /> Mr. Kern appeared before Your Committee in Kona while the Mayor's Executive Assistant <br /> Rose Bautista appeared via videoconferencing from the Hilo Council Chambers.
