cPJ�� <br /> OF <br /> • <br /> ..154 <br /> i <br /> 'COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAI <br /> I. <br /> :/71 Gi.M1•d-_ <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 179 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO BIG ISLAND <br /> RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL FOR THE 35TH <br /> ANNUAL QUIKSILVER/BIG ISLAND TOYOTA PRO-AM SURFING TRIALS. <br /> WHEREAS, Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council (BIRCDC) is <br /> a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that conserves, enhances, and promotes the economic, <br /> cultural, and natural environment of Hawai`i by assisting residents with achieving sustainable <br /> development and ensuring broadened economic opportunities; and <br /> WHEREAS,the annual Quiksilver/Big Island Toyota Pro-Am Surfing Trials is a <br /> community event that provides a platform for local, up-and-coming athletes to compete in the <br /> ancient Polynesian art and international sport of surfing; and <br /> WHEREAS,the event is an opportunity for the island's youth to better understand and <br /> appreciate the local culture and ocean environment, build confidence and self-esteem, and learn <br /> good sportsmanship; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is working in partnership with the event committee to coordinate <br /> the 35th Annual Quiksilver/Big Island Toyota Pro-Am Surfing Trials and is requesting funding <br /> assistance to procure security for the event; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports community events that <br /> promote Hawaiian culture and heritage and Hawai`i Island's athletes; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to BIRCDC for the 35th Annual Quiksilver/Big Island <br /> Toyota Pro-Am Surfing Trials. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
