REQUEST: The Department of Information Technology requests a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into a five- year lease agreement for the purchase of Nutanix. The cost is $173,146.52, with $90K initial downpayment, and an approximate monthly payment of$1,500 after which the county will own the equipment. We also request to waive the committee and 5 day hold in order to expedite the purchase for the reasons stated below. This is a planned purchase with the capacity to grow and be centrally managed through a dashboard for ease of maintenance, expansion, and upgrades. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): The Nutanix will replace 4 virtual host controller servers and EMC and HP disk arrays that provides disk space for the virtual host controllers. Currently our virtual host controllers have about 50 virtual servers that keep County of Hawaii operational. There are requests made to DIT every week to spin up new virtual servers to upgrade existing applications or implement new applications that County of Hawaii departments and agencies need to improve services for the public. Currently the 2 host controllers are already out of warranty and end of life. The other 2 host controllers will be out of warranty and end of life by September 4th, 2019. The HP disk array is already out of warranty and end of life. The EMC disk array will be out of warranty and end of life by January 2020. If the current equipment is not replaced soon. We run the risk of the whole virtual environment going down. With no support for assistance it will be very difficult to bring the virtual environment back up in a timely manner.
