V Of <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> �rF O f.N►'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> 212 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE OBSERVATION OF NATIONAL NIGHT OUT. <br /> WHEREAS,National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that <br /> promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie that is held on the first <br /> Tuesday in August; and <br /> WHEREAS,National Night Out facilitates relationship-building between community <br /> members, law enforcement, and first responders to increase neighborhood safety by improving <br /> crime, drug, and disaster preparedness awareness; and <br /> WHEREAS,National Night Out has been observed since 1984 and has over 38 million <br /> residents in all fifty states participating in diverse settings including backyard cookouts, block <br /> parties, carnivals, and parades; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii County residents, businesses, and other organizations are <br /> encouraged to collaborate with one another to participate in National Night Out and bring it to <br /> their respective communities on August 6, 2019; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> County of Hawaii joins forces with thousands of communities across the country to promote and <br /> support the observation of National Night Out and mahalo police officers, firefighters, and first <br /> responders for their service. <br />
