I OF <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> orf OFNF'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2:0 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FIRST ASSEMBLY OF <br /> GOD FOR THE CONVOY OF HOPE BIG ISLAND COMMUNITY EVENT. <br /> WHEREAS, First Assembly of God, doing business as (d/b/a) Convoy of Hope Hawaii, <br /> is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that provides an array of services and goods to families in <br /> need; and <br /> WHEREAS, Convoy of Hope Hawaii is a faith-based, non-profit organization with a <br /> driving passion to feed the world through children's feeding initiatives, and also provides <br /> community outreach and free goods and services to community members during times of <br /> disaster; and <br /> WHEREAS, Convoy of Hope Hawaii is a core partner of the Convoy of Hope Big <br /> Island Community Event, which will be held on August 24, 2019, at the Afook-Chinen Civic <br /> Auditorium; and <br /> WHEREAS, Convoy of Hope Hawaii is requesting funding assistance for the Convoy <br /> of Hope Big Island Community Event, including but not limited to the expenses for backpacks <br /> and school supplies, and other related items for children in the community; and <br /> i <br /> WHEREAS, this annual event has been attended by thousands of Hawaii Island <br /> residents, including parents and their children, and has been instrumental in bringing <br /> organizations and people together to inspire compassion and transform people's lives through a <br /> collaborative effort; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this outreach event as it <br /> falls within their community programs to promote, perpetuate, and encourage collaboration in <br /> the community while providing a safe and educational environment for the public; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to First Assembly of God to help fund the Convoy of <br /> Hope Big Island Community Event. <br />
