.JM�Y os y,- <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ,rE•OF• .'.. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 220 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS <br /> HAWAII INC., TO ASSIST THE EAST HAWAII ATHLETES WITH EXPENSES <br /> RELATED TO THE HOLIDAY CLASSIC GAMES ON OAHU. <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br /> dedicated to helping children and adults with intellectual disabilities improve their quality of life <br /> through sports; and <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc., helps athletes to develop physical fitness, <br /> demonstrate courage and skill, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts and <br /> friendship with their families, fellow athletes, and the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc., will host its annual Holiday Classic games <br /> on O`ahu where over 185 athletes, partners, and coaches from Hawai`i Island travel to compete <br /> against their peers; and <br /> WHEREAS, at this statewide competition, athletes are able to experience new <br /> friendships, team camaraderie, family pride, and the feeling of success and victory, possibly for <br /> the first time in their lives; and <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc., is seeking funds to help offset the cost of <br /> travel expenses for the athletes of Special Olympics East Hawai`i to participate in the Holiday <br /> Classic games on O`ahu, scheduled for November 16-17, 2019; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports developing partnerships <br /> with other recreation providers as well as community organizations to maximize service and <br /> activities for the public; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc., to assist the athletes of <br /> Special Olympics East Hawai`i with expenses related to the Holiday Classic games on O`ahu. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />
