*V."!,,,w,• <br /> Vl t <br /> '''" � STATE OF HAWAII <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII : •:�� ==�'�-/_• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 235 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL <br /> YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A MULTI-YEAR LEASE FOR <br /> A BALLOT SORTING MACHINE FOR THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY CLERK, <br /> ELECTIONS DIVISION. <br /> WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease, or <br /> other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year or of <br /> more than one fiscal year shall be approved by resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, the County of Hawai`i wishes to enter into a multi-year lease for five years <br /> for a ballot sorting machine for the Office of the County Clerk, Elections Division; and <br /> WHEREAS, on June 25, 2019 the Governor, David Ige, signed into law Act 136 which <br /> provides that voting across all counties for all elections starting in 2020 will be uniformly <br /> conducted 100% by mail; and <br /> WHEREAS, an effective mail ballot sorting solution is vital to accommodate the <br /> statewide change in voting procedures; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the County Clerk, Elections Division, wishes to enter into a <br /> five-year lease agreement for a ballot sorting machine for approximately $4,500 per month; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a five-year lease agreement for a ballot sorting machine <br /> for the Office of the County Clerk, Elections Division. <br />
