• <br /> v�tY Os p4h.•• <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII # STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •••)41.................... <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 240"19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HONOKA`A <br /> HONGWANJI MISSION FOR THE 13TH ANNUAL PARADE AND FESTIVAL FOR <br /> THE UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE. <br /> WHEREAS, the 13th Annual Parade and Festival for the United Nations International <br /> Day of Peace (Peace Day Parade and Festival) is a free event that will take place in Honoka`a on <br /> September 21-22, 2019; and <br /> WHEREAS, Honoka`a Hongwanji Mission, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is one of <br /> numerous organizations that comprise the Peace Committee of Honoka`a that is coordinating the <br /> Peace Day Parade and Festival, which has become the most elaborate and significant event of its <br /> kind in Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Peace Day Parade and Festival will be televised and broadcast via the <br /> web, and events will include a Peace Poster Contest, a Day of Mindfulness, Read for Peace, and <br /> "Wine at 5" (Blue Zones project); and <br /> WHEREAS, Honoka`a Hongwanji Mission is requesting funds to help with expenses for <br /> advertising/promotion, stage set-up, insurance, security, and a public address (PA) system; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports developing partnerships <br /> with other recreation providers as well as community organizations to maximize service and <br /> activities for the public as well as providing educational and leisure activities to share, preserve, <br /> perpetuate, and foster the appreciation of our rich multi-cultural heritage in the arts, history, and <br /> humanities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Honoka`a Hongwanji Mission for the 13th Annual <br /> Parade and Festival for the United Nations International Day of Peace. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
