OF p�W <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII • <br /> �'''��� / • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • <br /> • ._�a • <br /> (, mow. . <br /> •44 CF MO <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 24? 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND <br /> FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED <br /> FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF BIG ISLAND DRUG <br /> COURT, INC., TO PAY FOR COURT-RELATED SERVICES FOR PARTICIPANTS OF <br /> THE BIG ISLAND DRUG COURT AND VETERANS TREATMENT COURT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Drug Court was established on Hawai`i Island in 2002 to provide <br /> intense supervision of participants dealing with substance abuse in collaboration with the Office of <br /> the Prosecuting Attorney, Office of the Public Defender, Hawai`i Police Department, Adult Probation <br /> Division of the Third Circuit Court, and the State Department of Public Safety; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Veterans Treatment Court, launched on November 10, 2014, is a <br /> specialized treatment program that provides intense supervision of participants dealing with mental <br /> illness and substance abuse in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of <br /> the Prosecuting Attorney, Office of the Public Defender, Hawai`i Police Department, Adult Probation <br /> Division of the Third Circuit Court, and the State Department of Public Safety; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of Big Island Drug Court, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br /> serves to help the Big Island Drug Court and Big Island Veterans Treatment Court program <br /> participants to be compliant with their court conditions, successful with their substance abuse and <br /> mental treatment and live drug-free and crime-free lives; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of Big Island Drug Court, Inc., is requesting funds to pay for court- <br /> related services, transportation, education, incentives for positive progress, graduation and <br /> appreciation events, community service and outreach, hygiene supplies, employment, childcare and <br /> identification costs for participants of the Big Island Drug Court and Veterans Treatment Court <br /> programs in Hawai`i County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports programs and activities that <br /> promote healthy social behavior and positive intervention; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to section 2-13(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency <br /> Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting county department/agency via resolution identifying <br /> the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, <br /> materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Friends of Big Island Drug Court Inc., for court-related <br /> services for participants of the Big island Drug Court and Veterans Treatment Court programs. <br />
