<br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
<br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
<br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO UHANE POHAKU NA
<br /> MOKU 0 HAWAII, INC., FOR ITS 9'ANNUAL HO`OKUPU HULA NO KA`U
<br /> CULTURAL FESTIVAL.
<br /> WHEREAS, Uhane Pohaku Na Moku 0 Hawai`i, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
<br /> organization whose mission is to foster and encourage a deep appreciation for the Hawaiian
<br /> cultural arts through hula traditions and cultural site protection, maintenance, and restoration that
<br /> promotes Hawai`i values, language and practices; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Uhane Pohaku Na Moku 0 Hawai`i, Inc., will celebrating the 9th Annual
<br /> Ho`okupu Hula No Ka`u Cultural Festival (HHNKCF) on November 2, 2019 at the Pahala
<br /> Community Center; and
<br /> WHEREAS, HHNKCF will be featuring musicians, hula, music, crafts, food, cultural
<br /> practitioners, demonstrations, workshops, halau from Oahu, Okinawa, and Japan and will pay
<br /> tribute to Uncle George Naope for his contribution he made to the art form of the hula; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Uhane Pohaku Na Moku 0 Hawai`i, Inc., is requesting funds to pay for
<br /> advertising, posters, flyers, radio announcements, food, refreshments, and miscellaneous supplies
<br /> for its 9th Annual Ho`okupu Hula No Ka`u Cultural Festival; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports this event as it is in keeping
<br /> with the goal and objectives of the department to promote safe and healthy community; and
<br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
<br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
<br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
<br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
<br /> therefore,
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
<br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Office of the
<br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Uhane Pohaku Na Moku 0 Hawai`i, Inc., for its 9th
<br /> Annual Ho`okupu Hula No Ka`u Cultural Festival on November 2, 2019.
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
<br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
