TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE BIG ISLAND <br /> REGIONAL SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT. <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br /> dedicated to helping children and adults with disabilities by improving their quality of life <br /> through sports; and <br /> WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. is requesting funds to assist with expenses <br /> for awards, lunch, refreshments, tables, chairs, and portable bathrooms for the Big Island <br /> Regional Softball Tournament that will be held on April 25, 2020, in West Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation creates partnerships with other <br /> recreation providers and community organizations to maximize service and activities for the <br /> public; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. for expenses related to <br /> the Big Island Regional Softball Tournament. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
