• <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII1.i• ''�=��/ # STATE OF HAWAII <br /> i'..4.:4-Wi.';'--; <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 276 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GOING HOME <br /> HAWAII FOR THE PU'UHONUA WELLNESS CAREER, TECHNOLOGY, AND <br /> EDUCATION PATHWAY NETWORK PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission <br /> is to assist justice-involved Hawai`i Island men, women, and youth with reintegration into <br /> community life through employment, education, training, and appropriate services; and <br /> WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i's Pu'uhonua Wellness Career, Technology, and <br /> Education Pathway Network is an educational partnership with Blueprint for Change and <br /> Hawai`i Community College offering free long-distance learning certified courses for formerly <br /> incarcerated native and non-native Hawaiian persons and their at-risk family members 15 years <br /> of age and older; and <br /> WHEREAS, year-long courses such as Practical Farm and Ranch Skills, Greenhouse <br /> Technologies, and Business Basics for the Beginner Farmer are offered free of charge and <br /> certificates are given to students who complete the courses; and <br /> WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i is requesting funding assistance to cover the costs <br /> associated with the learning site and incidentals that may arise during the course session; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to support <br /> programs that improve the criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working <br /> collaboratively with other criminal justice agencies and the community by employing early <br /> intervention initiatives to improve the quality of life on the Big Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Going Home Hawai'i for its Pu'uhonua Wellness <br /> Career, Technology, and Education Pathway Network program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
