YY OF k`'• <br /> • • <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII *_ �'-- /_} STATE OF HAWAII <br /> lE.................. <br /> OF M.•..: <br /> t <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 280 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF <br /> KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, INC., FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES <br /> INCURRED AT THE 37TH ANNUAL HAWAII KUPUNA HULA FESTIVAL. <br /> WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service projects and <br /> activities that meet the needs of the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation, Inc., is working in <br /> partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation to co-sponsor the 37th Annual Hawai`i <br /> Kupuna Hula Festival, which was held on September 11-12, 2019, at the Sheraton Kona Resort <br /> and Spa at Keauhou Bay; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Kupuna Hula Festival is the longest running international event <br /> that showcases talented and experienced dancers over the age of 55 from all over the world; and <br /> WHEREAS, to meet the increasing costs of this annual event, the Lions Club of Kona <br /> Community Foundation, Inc., is requesting reimbursement of funds to assist with various <br /> equipment, awards, prizes, and supplies for the 37th Annual Hawai`i Kupuna Hula Festival; and <br /> WHEREAS, the annual Kupuna Hula Festival falls within the Department of Parks and <br /> Recreation's Culture and Education program to promote, perpetuate, and encourage activities <br /> and programs in culture, art, history, and humanities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation, Inc., <br /> to assist with expenses to support the 37th Annual Hawai`i Kupuna Hula Festival. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
