<br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
<br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
<br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAMAKUA
<br /> HEALTH CENTER, INC., FOR THE HONOKA`A SPOOKTACULAR 2019..
<br /> WHEREAS, the Hamakua Health Center, Inc., doing business as (dba) Hamakua-Kohala
<br /> Health, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide quality healthcare that
<br /> is responsive to patients' and communities' needs; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the Hamakua Health Center, Inc., with the help of the Department of Parks
<br /> and Recreation, is coordinating the Honoka`a Spooktacular 2019, which will take place on
<br /> October 25, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Honoka`a; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the Honoka`a Spooktacular 2019 will be instrumental in bringing
<br /> organizations and people together to inspire compassion and transform people's lives through a
<br /> collaborative effort by providing service resources such as access to health insurance assistance
<br /> and information, health care, SNAP/EBT benefits, college classes, youth activities, child care,
<br /> family substance abuse resources, and information on behavioral health and access; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the main goal of the wellness event is to provide all participating vendors
<br /> the opportunity to reach out to as many people in need as possible while providing families with
<br /> a night of fun; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the Hamakua Health Center, Inc., is requesting funding assistance for the
<br /> Honoka`a Spooktacular 2019, including but not limited to the expenses for party supplies, keiki
<br /> gift bags, keiki activities, games, small prizes, and other related items for children in the
<br /> community; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this outreach event as it
<br /> falls within its programs policy to promote, perpetuate, and encourage collaboration in the
<br /> community while providing a safe and educational environment for the public; and
<br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
<br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
<br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
<br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
<br /> therefore,
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
<br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of
<br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hamakua Health Center, Inc., for the Honoka`a
<br /> Spooktacular 2019.
