Chung, Council Member <br /> Council District 2 <br /> RE: Report of Council Members' Participation in Site Visit to Area Impacted by <br /> the Puna Lava Flow <br /> In accordance with HRS §92-2.5(e), I am reporting the attendance of Council Members Ashley <br /> Kierkiewicz,Matt Kanealii-Kleinfelder, and myself at a tour of one of the many kipuka created <br /> by the recent lava flow. This site visit was conducted on Friday,August 30, 2019, at the <br /> invitation of Puna residents Cindy Conda,Nancy Seifert, Susan Kim and Lono Lyman, and <br /> provided us with a first-hand view and understanding of the impacts of the flow on residents and <br /> farmers who were unable to access their properties. <br /> HRS §92-2.5(e)provides that two or more members of a board,but less than a quorum,may <br /> attend an informational meeting of another entity, legislative hearing, convention seminar, or <br /> community meeting,provided that the meeting is not specifically and exclusively organized for <br /> or directed toward members of the board. The section further provides that at the next duly <br /> noticed meeting of the board,the board members shall report their attendance and the matters <br /> presented and discussed that relate to official board business. <br /> Please place this communication on the next available council agenda. <br /> ASYC:awm <br /> Com'.
