Dialectology, and a M.A. in Teaching with an emphasis on bilingual language learners <br /> and social studies education. After 14 years serving as a high school teacher, student <br /> support coordinator, social studies department chair, and director of global studies at <br /> Karnehameha Kapalama, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of returning home to Na'alehu <br /> permanently in 2017. He is currently a high school teacher at Ka'u High School, chair of <br /> the Komike Na Mea Hawai'i for the Ka'u Hawaiian Civic Club, a member of Y,,-Iuaha'ao <br /> Congregational Church, and a community volunteer. He is proud to be a protector of all <br /> things Hawaiian, of all things Ka'u, and is a strong supporter of AlohaAina. He also has <br /> two io year old mini dachshunds and enjoys travel, having visited over 20 countries <br /> with many more to explore,! <br /> Nohealan] Kaawa <br /> Nohea Ka'awa was born and lives in the Wai'6hinu Ahupua' a in Ka'fi. As a life-long <br /> cultural practitioner with experience in Hawaiian protocol, she is, an advocate for <br /> respectful resource management. Having followed an educational background in <br /> Hawaiian Studies at UH Hilo, Nohea is employed as the Ka' fi community outreach <br /> specialist for Dl. R- DOFAW in partnership with Hawaii Wildlife Fund. Nohea is a <br /> hauindnaofflBlau ' Ohi' a and since 2012 has continued as an active board member <br /> of.Ka ' Olianaol-Ionu' apo whose mission aims to restore, care for and protect the <br /> natural and cultural resources within Ka' -a by utilizing the values of mcdama '61ina <br /> (care for the land), kfipono (honesty and integrity), and kuleana (duty and <br /> responsibility) and to work in community partnerships to preserve the area for future <br /> generations. Nohea appreciates opportunities to host interpretive hikes, she loves to <br /> share 1770 ' olelo wahi'pansa and rno ' o kiiauhau of Ka' fi but most importantly, Nohea <br /> takes pride in being able connect and assist others in the practice to truly Aloha ' Aina, <br /> Trice Davis <br /> Trice Davis is a lineal decent of Ka' fi through his, Kabula and Mahuka genealogy. He <br /> resides in Wai' 6binu with his wife and two children living an off grid lifestyle growing <br /> ktalo and raising,chickens. Trice is an avid waterinan with thorough knowledge and <br /> understanding of marine biology. Trice is employed at the National Park Services, <br /> Kahuku Unit providing grounds maintenance service and he often travels to serve as a <br /> wild land Fire Fighter. As a former biological field technician for the Pdkini Nui wind <br /> farm along with his specialization with endemic woodworking craftsmanship, Trice <br /> enjoys the outdoors and shares a strong connection to the natural, cultural and native <br /> environment of Ka' fi. <br /> 2 <br />
