', <br /> r <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII ;is •* STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 347 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AUTISM <br /> SOCIETY OF HAWAII TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE <br /> 11TH ANNUAL SURFERS HEALING HAWAII EVENT IN HILO. <br /> WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br /> dedicated to serving persons with or affected by the autism spectrum disorder and developing <br /> opportunities to improve their well-being; and <br /> WHEREAS, Surfers Healing is a national organization created for the purpose of <br /> allowing autistic and otherwise disabled children to experience the healing and calming effects <br /> of the ocean and surfing; and <br /> WHEREAS, Surfers Healing—Hawai`i Island Chapter, in conjunction with The Autism <br /> Society of Hawai`i, is sponsoring the 1 lth Annual Surfers Healing Hawai`i event at Richardson <br /> Ocean Park in Hilo on November 30, 2019, to provide children with autism and other disabilities <br /> the experience of surfing and being in the ocean; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawai`i is requesting funds to offset the travel <br /> expenses for two professional surfers who will provide assistance at this event; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation creates partnerships with other <br /> recreation providers and community organizations to facilitate services and opportunities that are <br /> responsive to the community's needs and interests; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to The Autism Society of Hawai`i for expenses related to <br /> the 11th Annual Surfers Healing Hawai`i event in Hilo. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
