�tv os......... <br /> • '" <br /> ' \ <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> -•• STATE OF HAWAI Ir, :. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 411 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HUA 0 LAHUI FOR <br /> ITS QUEEN KAPI`OLANI CANOE REPLICA PROJECT. <br /> WHEREAS, Hua 0 Lahui is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the <br /> betterment of Native Hawaiians through the preservation and education of traditional Hawaiian <br /> and Polynesian cultural practices; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 1887, Queen Kapi`olani gifted the Smithsonian Institution with what is <br /> currently the oldest documented Hawaiian canoe in existence; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hua 0 Lahui intends to educate the public about Queen Kapi`olani and the <br /> traditional Hawaiian practice of canoe carving with a live and interactive demonstration from <br /> master canoe carver Raymond Bumatay, who will be creating a replica of Queen Kapi`olani's <br /> canoe at the 2020 Merrie Monarch Festival in Hilo and the 2020 Festival of Pacific Arts and <br /> Culture in Honolulu; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hua 0 Lahui requests funding to assist with costs associated with this <br /> project, including tools, supplies, shipping, and travel expenses for the educators; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol-free and drug-free <br /> events that enrich the quality of life for Hawai`i Island residents and visitors; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hua 0 Lahui for its Queen Kapi`olani Canoe Replica <br /> Project. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
