TE <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 490 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO COMMUNITY FIRST <br /> INC. FOR THE "KNOW YOUR NUMBERS" BLOOD PRESSURE AWARENESS <br /> CAMPAIGN. <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by the <br /> late Barry Taniguchi with a mission to create a sustainable medical system that provides quality <br /> care for all the people of our community; and <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is working in partnership with the American Heart <br /> Association, Hawai`i Island Chamber of Commerce, Hilo Medical Center, HMSA, KTA <br /> Pharmacy, and numerous other community organizations to provide educational outreach <br /> including free blood pressure screenings at worksites and venues throughout East Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is hosting its inaugural "Know Your Numbers" blood <br /> pressure awareness campaign to educate the community about high blood pressure and <br /> hypertension, which increases the risks for heart attack and stroke, the leading causes of death in <br /> the United States; and <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is requesting funds to cover expenses for printing <br /> materials and radio and website advertisements for the "Know Your Numbers" blood pressure <br /> awareness campaign; and <br /> WHEREAS, this project fits within the Office of Aging's mission to optimize the health, <br /> safety, and independence of Hawai`i's older adults; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to <br /> provide a grant to Community First Inc. for the "Know Your Numbers" blood pressure <br /> awareness campaign. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
