STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 498 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO COMMUNITY FIRST <br /> INC. TO ASSIST WITH OUTREACH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE "KNOW YOUR <br /> NUMBERS" BLOOD PRESSURE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN. <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated <br /> to educating the public on the importance of caring for your health and not just treating disease; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is holding its inaugural "Know Your Numbers" <br /> blood pressure awareness campaign to address the problem of high blood pressure in Hawai`i; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, persons with high blood pressure and hypertension are at increased risk for <br /> heart disease and stroke, which are the leading causes of death in the United States, affecting <br /> about one-third of the adult population; and <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is requesting funds for public service announcements <br /> in media and educational outreach at worksites and community venues for its "Know Your <br /> Numbers" campaign; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Fire Department supports prevention and public education <br /> programs focused on identified issues and target audiences with the intent of taking proactive <br /> steps to preventing and reducing morbidity and disability; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Hawai`i Fire <br /> Department to provide a grant to Community First Inc. to assist with outreach expenses relating <br /> to the "Know Your Numbers"blood pressure awareness campaign. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
