STATE OF HAWAII <br /> �tE•OF•N�,� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 499 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PANIOLO <br /> PRESERVATION SOCIETY TO ASSIST WITH A REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES <br /> RELATED TO THE OLD HAWAII ON HORSEBACK: NA WAHINE HOLO LIO <br /> PAGEANT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Paniolo Preservation Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br /> supports increased public awareness of the historical and present-day significance of Hawai`i's <br /> ranching industry and traditions; and <br /> WHEREAS, in furtherance of that mission, the Paniolo Preservation Society, on <br /> September 14, 2019, held the Old Hawai`i on Horseback: Na Wahine Holo Lio pageant, a <br /> celebration of women horseback riders and the history of ranching in Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, during the successful pageant, scores of costumed horses and riders <br /> portrayed historical figures in Hawai`i from the 18th, 19th,and 20th centuries; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Paniolo Preservation Society is requesting a reimbursement of expenses <br /> relating to program costs and advertising for the event; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports festivals and events <br /> that increase the economic contribution of our visitor industry to Hawai`i Island and enrich the <br /> quality of life for Hawai`i residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Paniolo Preservation Society for a <br /> reimbursement of expenses related to the Old Hawai`i on Horseback: Na Wahine Holo Lio <br /> pageant. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
