-'civ oc N, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII ;;A .• STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> OF MPS* <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 500 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PANIOLO <br /> PRESERVATION SOCIETY AS REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO <br /> ITS ANNUAL PRODUCTION OF OLD HAWAII ON HORSEBACK. <br /> WHEREAS, the Paniolo Preservation Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br /> is dedicated to preserving and perpetuating Hawai`i's living paniolo heritage as it is a significant <br /> part of the history of Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Paniolo Preservation Society held its annual production of Old Hawai`i <br /> on Horseback on September 14, 2019, with the theme "Na Wahine Holo Lio," which included a <br /> cast of over 100 riders and horses costumed to portray our 19th century ancestors, the Hawaiian <br /> monarch era, famous Hawaiian cowboys and their families, and the descendants of early Big <br /> Island ranchers to celebrate the heritage of the paniolo; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Paniolo Preservation Society has requested financial assistance for a <br /> reimbursement of expenses relating to its annual production, including expenses for advertising, <br /> special fabric, and sewing supplies and services; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports this project as it <br /> increases the economic contribution of our visitor industry to Hawai`i Island, promotes quality <br /> experiences for visitors, and enriches the quality of life for Hawai`i residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Paniolo Preservation Society as <br /> reimbursement for expenses related to its annual production of Old Hawai`i on Horseback. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
