'} STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 528 20 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE DAUGHTERS OF <br />HAWAII TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE KING KAMEHAMEHA <br />DAY CELEBRATION PARADE AND HO`OLAULE`A IN KONA. <br />WHEREAS, the Daughters of Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br />mission is to perpetuate the memory and spirit of old Hawaii and to preserve the nomenclature <br />and correct pronunciation of the Hawaiian language; and <br />WHEREAS, the Daughters of Hawaii is partnering with the King Kamehameha Day <br />Celebration Parade Committee to assist with the King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade and <br />the ho`olaule`a, which will occur on June 13, 2020, in the historic Kailua Village; and <br />WHEREAS, the ho`olaule`a will be held at Hulihe`e Palace and will feature cultural and <br />educational events for the community including lei displays, palace tours, and demonstrations of <br />other cultural practices; and <br />WHEREAS, the Daughters of Hawaii is requesting funds for advertisement and rental <br />fees to use Hulihe`e Palace for the ho`olaule`a; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that provide <br />educational activities and community events in a drug-free and alcohol -free environment, such as <br />the King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Daughters of Hawaii to assist with expenses related to <br />the King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade and ho`olaule`a in Kona. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
