REQUEST: Approval to accept a donation valued at approximately $2,232.00 for travel to Orlando, Florida to attend the 2020 CDL Coordinator's/ IT Meeting sponsored by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): AAMVA and FMCSA sponsors an annual meeting to discuss commercial driver's license issues, concerns, upcoming rules and regulations. The invitation includes 4 representatives from the State of Hawai'i. The Department of Transportation - MVSO office selects the participants and completes the initial registration. This year, John Lovstedt, CDL Coordinator for State of Hawai'i, DOT/MVSO selected Jerome Marks, Driver License Examiner 11 (CDL Examiner) to attend this meeting with him as the CDL Test Expert. The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators is a non-govermental, voluntary, tax-exempt, nonprofit educational association. AAMVA is a private corporation which strives to develop model programs in motor vehicle administration, police traffic services and highway safety. Jerome Marks is Hawai'i Co-unty's certified commercial driver license examiner. He has over 20 years of experience in driving and training CDL drivers for private entities and has been with the County for 3 years. During his tenure with us, Jerome has given a training workshop on the CDL practical skills test for the City and County of Honolulu and assisted in testing potential CDL drivers. Jerome is very knowledgeable in this field. His attendance at this conference will ensure that this County remain in the forefront of CDL practical skills testing and issuance.
