FOR A REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES <br /> RELATED TO THE 2020 KUIIIO DAY CELEBRATION. <br /> ,i <br /> a <br /> WHEREAS, Keaukaha Community Association Inc. (KCAI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization that supports the programs and activities of the Hawaiian homestead community of <br /> Keaukaha; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Keaukaha community owes its existence to Prince Jonah Kuhio <br /> Kalaniana`ole, who served as Hawai`i's delegate to Congress and introduced legislation that <br /> became the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act of 1920; and <br /> WHEREAS, in recognition of Prince Kuhio's service, vision, and contributions, KCAI is <br /> sponsoring an alcohol-free and substance-free Kuhio Day Celebration on March 28, 2020, at <br /> Kulapae, Keaukaha Beach Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, KCAI is requesting a reimbursement of funds for expenses related to the <br /> 2020 Kuhio Day Celebration, including educational workshops, publicity, site rental, insurance, <br /> equipment, and sanitation; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide drug- <br /> free and alcohol-free events for the community; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Keaukaha Community Association Inc. for a reimbursement <br /> of expenses related to the 2020 Kuhio Day Celebration. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
