COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAPI <br />RESOLUTION NO. 552 20 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ALOHA CLUB OF <br />HILO TO PURCHASE COOKING EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES FOR HALE'OLUEA <br />CLUBHOUSE. <br />WHEREAS, Hale 'Oluea Clubhouse is a voluntary, psychosocial rehabilitation program <br />for adults with mental health disabilities in East Hawaii, which is a branch of Clubhouse <br />International with 300 clubhouses in 30 countries; and <br />WHEREAS, Hale 'Oluea Clubhouse has a unique rehabilitation format where <br />participants are "members" rather than clients, and they work with staff to foster participation <br />through self-determination; and <br />WHEREAS, Hale 'Oluea Clubhouse strives to provide a supportive, low stress, yet <br />comfortable environment for its members by offering meals, social experiences, and group <br />support; and <br />WHEREAS, the Aloha Club of Hilo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that raises <br />funds for Hale 'Oluea Clubhouse and provides training for staff and volunteers as well as <br />vocational, educational, social, and recreational opportunities for its members; and <br />WHEREAS, the Aloha Club of Hilo has requested funds to purchase cooking equipment <br />and supplies for the daily meal preparations at Hale 'Oluea Clubhouse for its members in <br />rehabilitation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney encourages and supports initiatives <br />which improve the quality of life for island residents; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District I will be appropriated to the Office of the <br />Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Aloha Club of Hilo to purchase cooking <br />equipment and supplies for Hale 'Oluea Clubhouse. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
