t <br /> OJa.vfoe H,�t y� <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII ._ STATE OF HAWAII <br /> �TfOFH�J <br /> i <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 555 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KEALAKEHE <br /> PROJECT GRAD FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS 2020 KEALAKEHE PROJECT <br /> GRAD EVENT. I <br /> WHEREAS, Kealakehe Project Grad is an alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug-free event that <br /> provides a safe, all-night celebration for graduating seniors from Kealakehe high School, West <br /> Hawaii Explorations Academy, and qualifying home-schools; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kealakehe Project Grad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has <br /> coordinated the Kealakehe Project Grad event since its inception in 2001; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2020 Kealakehe Project Grad event will take place at the KBXtreme <br /> Family Entertainment Center, commencing at 9:00 p.m. on May 23 and concluding at 5:00 a.m. <br /> on May 24; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2020 Kealakehe Project Grad event is chaperoned by volunteer parents, <br /> teachers, hired security personnel, and police officers to ensure the safety of participating <br /> students; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kealakehe Project Grad is requesting funds to help pay for meals, snacks, <br /> live entertainment, games, transportation, activities, memorabilia, and other expenses associated <br /> with the graduation-night celebration; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br /> improve the lives of young people through supervised alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug-free <br /> recreational activities intended to promote growth and learning in a safe environment; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Kealakehe Project Grad to assist with expenses relating to <br /> its 2020 Kealakehe Project Grad event. <br />
